The Hokusai’s hold is cramped with twenty people gathering their gear: other members of the embassy staff preparing to leave. They greet you, but none of you have served together before. This is going to be getting-to-know-you in the trenches. The top brass wanted results, though, so here you are.
You get your bag from the locker you’d stashed it in before the ship departed Gateway Station. Four changes of clothes. A miniaturized chip-lab. A therapy ball for your shoulder. All that’s missing is the R27 pistol you always carry. Feels wrong to deploy without it, but rules are rules. No weapons on Unity.
